I’m a woodworker. And I am a dad. And I’m a gift avenger.
That makes me a total pro in picking woodworking gifts for dads.
Heck, I might even accidentally on purpose drop a link to this article in my family’s email. 😉
I know what woodworking gifts I’d love to receive. I love tools and have lots of them already but there are certain things that I haven’t purchased because they always fall further down the list of priorities. These are the items your woodworker will love. Your dad will wonder how on earth you knew! There are handy utilitarian things on this list as well as the splurgy kinda things woodworkers won’t buy because they are too expensive. Whatever your budget there is something here that every woodworking dad will love.

For the beginner woodworker this is a great choice. Irwin is a well know and reputable brand. What we like about this is that it comes with a mallet. Many beginners won't splurge for a mallet separate from their chisel set. Since this kit comes with one it gives that extra Oomph to your gift. An trust us when we say, a mallet is really the best way to tap your chisels.
Every woodworker makes right angles. If you've ever tried to glue up a box you know what a challenge it can be to keep everything aligned. This is one of those things that every woodworker can use and will REALLY appreciate.
There is nothing more satisfying to a woodworker than a sharp chisel. Well, maybe a long shave from a plane beats a chisel. Still, you cannot go wrong with a beautifully crafted chisel set. This set wins hands down when it comes to a top-shelf choice.

SAFETY! For years I used a shop-made push block to guide woof through the blades of my tools. On an impulse, I bought one of these at a local store. Wow, not only do you feel much more secure and safe but it actually improved my cuts. This contraption holds work pieces much more securely and evenly when pushing them through a blade resulting in better cuts.

Larger full-sized routers are heavy and clumsy for smaller delicate work. This little guy is perfect for simpler more delicate routing tasks. It is one of those tools that many woodworkers can get away with using a full-sized router but having this makes lots of routing tasks a more precise and pleasurable experience.

Fostner bits produce the cleanest holes. They also produce flat bottom holds which are a must for installing hinges. You can never have enough drill bits and this set is good quality, provides a great range of sizes, and is well priced.

Accuracy. Squareness. Those are the name of the game in woodworking. Having the ONE perfectly accurate square/triangle in the shop is an absolute must. You'd be surprised how many of the cheaper triangles are actually triangular. They simply aren't accurate. ANY woodworker will appreciate a top-notch triangle. I use one of these EVERY single time I'm in my shop.
